S/V Loomba-Loomba

On Monday 5/10 we headed back to Port Townsend. We spent two days at the dock and had a mechanic survey the engine and give us a list of things we should do in the near future. Nothing too major. Hauled out on 5/13 and Jim has been spending most of his time so far in the Lazerette grinding fiberglass getting ready to fix the rudder stops and install our new Cape Horn windvane.  All I see of him is a leg sticking into the quarter berth or a hand sticking up into the cockpit. I've been scraping the exterior teak down to bare wood. Slow and tedious, but I'm also available to hand things to the man below deck!

Last night was our first night on Loomba-Loomba at anchor.  The new mattress is great, the new diesel heater kept us warm, and the windlass pulled the anchor up - just as planned!

We've made many of the major purchases  - see side bar.  Now Jim's full time job is installations. We are heading to the boat yard again in May to install the windvane, another through-hull for the future watermaker, permanently fix the rudder stops, check the bottom and through hulls and put another coat of bottom paint on, do some engine work, and finish installing the electronics and electrical stuff (new batteries, solar panels, etc.). Chrissy is busy packing things up and getting the house ready for new tenants, the garage apartment ready to move into, and the boat stuff gathered, organized and ready to put on the boat when most of the installations are done. After the boatyard we are hoping to be able to slow down and spend June and July sailing and doing last minute details. I don't have any new boat pictures, but will post some when I do.

We've spent the past four months planning, researching, getting houses ready to rent and/or sell, shopping, fixing, installing, cleaning, and getting rid of things. At this moment our plan is to rent our house in the next few months and spend our time in the tiny apartment above the garage and on Loomba-Loomba (as soon as the new heater is installed!). Jim (and crew) will sail down to the Bay Area around the first of August. Chrissy will stay on Bainbridge helping Kelsey get ready for her wedding on August 28th. Jim and crew will return for the wedding and to take care of last minute details and then Chrissy and Jim will head to SF in September and start heading south. Our goal is to be in Puerto Vallarta by Christmas. Kelsey, RL and Drew are meeting us there for Christmas. We will spend the rest of the winter in Mexican waters. We plan to leave Loomba-Loomba in Mexico and head home for the summer.  Beyond that we will decide as we go. We still have  MANY  thin...
