S/V Loomba-Loomba

We have been back in Mazatlan since January 5th. We spent five weeks (mostly staying with Heyers) in the Northwest. It was fun and BUSY – I don’t think we could have squeezed in one more activity! First we drove from Mazatlan to Drew's house  in Gold Canyon, Arizona with an overnight stop  in San Carlos.  We had a nice two day visit  with Drew and then flew to Seattle on November 25th. Drew and Fiona up in the Superstition Mountains  behind his Arizona House Kelsey and RL (Heyer) hosted a delicious Thanksgiving dinner for the few family members who were in town  and a few friends (not pictured). Simon! The weather was mostly clear, sunny, and cold  while we were there, but the day after  Thanksgiving it was pouring rain - the day we went to the Macy's parade downtown! Seattleites are used to the rain - Kelsey, R.L, and Simon  in the middle of the crowd watching the parade...

We left home on September 28. and spent the first night in Seattle with the Heyers (Simon, RL, Kelsey and Barlow) the next night in Wenatchee (Chapples) and the third night in Twin Falls in a motel.  The next day we drove to Great Basin National Park in eastern Nevada. It was COLD! It was 33 degrees when we woke up so we hiked up to the Bristlecone Pine grove quite early -slow going at 10,000 feet, but we warmed up quickly. Some of the Bristlecone Pines are several thousands of years old. This one was over 3,000 years old when it died.  Cave Tour of Lehman Caves It was a great tour by a Park Ranger. Then we drove to Moab where we camped  for five nights in a BLM Campground  right on the Colorado River. From our camp we hiked up a shady canyon along a clear creek  to Morning Glory Arch,  Drove the La Sal Mountain Loop,  (awesome views and no traffic) View looking down Castle Valley to...
