We arrived in Agua Verde on Wednesday April 20th. It was Semana Santa (Easter Week).
Looking down at one of the beaches in Bahia Agua Verde - campers were just beginning to set up. We were anchored on the other side of the bay. |
The local Mexicans flock to the beaches bringing truckloads and boatloads of camping supplies - and all generations of the family. Where we were anchored the only access was by boat so we watched boatloads of camping gear and people make trip after trip to get set up and then again to pack up.
We loved Agua Verde - our favorite anchorage so far. Most of the week there were only a few cruising boats. The water was warm and clear, the snorkeling was great, good shelling beaches, good hikes, and great reefs and bays to explore by dinghy.

There is a good local store that re-stocks fresh veggies on Tuesday and Friday and has fresh local goat cheese and tortillas. Many of the small homes have beautiful gardens and the people take pride in their village.
Some of our purchases at the local store. |
Many nice gardens. |

Most of the time we were anchored in Agua Verde there was a group of free-diver spearfishermen from the Bay Area camping on the beach. They went way out in a panga, dove deep (60') and came back with some huge fish. They shared some Yellowtail with us - best shashimi we've ever had!
