S/V Loomba-Loomba

We took a three day camping/hiking trip up to Staircase in Olympic National Park - we got to use our Senior Golden Eagle passes for the first time! Our Campsite at Staircase Campground on the North Fork of the Skokomish River. Early morning hike. We happened to run into Tom (Chrissy's brother), John and Hutch on the trail. They were just starting a four day backpacking trip. The mouth of the Skokomish. Lake Cushman in the background. Kelsey and RL joined us Friday and Saturday. The Staircase Rapids on the north fork of the Skokomish River. Most of the hikes are through old growth cedar and fir.

We were a bit out of sorts not having a boat here this summer, but some Bainbridge friends needed someone to bring their boat back from Campbell River so we volunteered. We drove their car up to Campbell River via the Port Angeles-Victoria Ferry and took the slow scenic route up to Nanaimo where we stayed with some old friends of Jim's from his Victoria Days.  Malahat Drive looking at Saanich Inlet. Duncan, BC. Over 80  totem poles displayed around town. Incredible Sand Sculptures at the annual Sand Sculpture Competition in Ladysmith. We met Mark and Sarah and their two girls in Campbell River where they took the car and we took their boat "Anna Crewe". Anna Crewe anchored in Gorge Harbour on the west side of Cortes Island. Trial run in our new inflatable kayaks. Our kayaks look pretty small at the marina in Gorge Harbour! We walked from the Gorge Harbour Marina over to Whaletown and spotted these signs along the way. P
